Text for a demonstration, possibly for tape-recording, of EASY - Relaxation and the Soft Eye-shades.
by Prof. Wilm-Peter Möllmann, Dipl.-Psych.
Sit or stand in a comfortable way and put the shades on. Adjust them precisely in width, to have them cover your eyes and face gently without any feeling they might be slipping away or pressing on your face. There are cushions at the nose cut-out which you might model inward and upward tp have the shades fit still better. If necessary get them off once more to have it properly done and to feel really comfortably with the shades. |
|
If you are standing, let your feet stand firmly on the floor, find an easily balanced position. When sitting feel the contact points with your seat, making sure your position can be held without effort enabling you to expand a little on your seat.
Now get the feeling of the shades. Do you feel at ease with them? Should they give you the impression of being "enclosed", maybe causing fear, and should this feeling not fade away within a short delay, take the shades off for now, but do it cautiosly - light could be overwhelming, when taking them off too fast. Better let impressions of warmth, of rest, of feeling protected take effect on you. Maybe you can indulge a little in such feelings, imagine being in some fine place: on the beach in the sun, on a warm meadow, near a wood...
If you might like the idea let an invisible relaxation veil spread around you. Distant enough away from your body as not to feel enclosed, just well protected, with light and air and warmth getting through to you. Let it go from the shades over your hair - the back of your head - your shoulders - your upper arms - your back - your legs - over your feet. Let it go from your shades distant enough from your face so that you can breathe freely - over your forehead - your eyes - the sides of your head - your cheeks - your nose - your lips - your throat - your chest - your arms - hands - fingers - your belly - your legs - your feet to the toes. In the veil you might feel as warm or as cool as might suit you best at the moment. Now look, whether it is lying comfortably around you or whether you might like to adjust it somehow. Think about keeping it on even when "coming back" now. Try the idea whether and when this relaxation and especially the shades might be helpful. Imagine what you might make of this for yourself now you have got to know such an easy way to relax.
Get into some movement first, let ernergy spread in you, then take the shades off in the last place. Do so gently and slowly without forcing anything - just the way you feel good.
